Starting Point
Krämmel manages complex development projects involving many stakeholders, phases, and financial perspectives. Relevant information was spread across different files, Excel sheets, emails, and individual storage locations, making it difficult to maintain a consistent view of projects and the overall portfolio. As a result, status updates, cost tracking, cash flow analysis, and decision-making often required considerable manual effort. Cross-project transparency was limited, and management lacked a centralized basis for steering development activities efficiently.

To address this, a unified digital platform was implemented based on Power Apps, Power BI, and Microsoft 365. At the core of the solution was the Development Portfolio Management app, which created a central place to manage project, portfolio, and financial information in a structured way.

Power BI provided interactive reporting and dashboards for management and operational teams, enabling better visibility into project status, timelines, costs, and cash flow. Microsoft 365 supported collaboration by connecting project-related communication, documents, and daily work more closely to the platform.

This created a more transparent, scalable, and connected way for Krämmel to manage development projects across the full lifecycle.

Solution Overview

The implemented solution is built on the Microsoft platform and combines Power Apps, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 into a centralized environment for managing development projects and portfolios. The goal was to bring together fragmented information and create a consistent digital foundation for project management, reporting, and collaboration.

At the core of the solution is a custom Development Portfolio Management application built with Power Apps. It enables structured management of projects across different phases and provides greater transparency into key information such as project status, timelines, costs, cash flow, and other portfolio-relevant metrics. This creates a shared data foundation for both operational teams and management.

The solution is further enhanced by Power BI, which transforms the data captured in the platform into intuitive dashboards and analytical reports. This allows project progress, financial relationships, and portfolio performance to be reviewed more quickly and with greater confidence. Management and business teams gain a stronger basis for decision-making and overall portfolio steering.

Microsoft 365 also supports day-to-day collaboration around projects, documents, and communication. By connecting the application, reporting, and collaboration layer more closely, Krämmel established a modern working environment that reduces manual effort and significantly improves cross-functional transparency.
